Puddle Jumpers Opens at the Oswego County Airport

FULTON - Operation Oswego County Director L. Michael Treadwell reported to the Oswego County Legislature's Economic Development and Planning Committee that there is a new restaurant at the Oswego County Airport. Puddle Jumpers opened on Thursday, March 1 at the facility on county Route 176.

"The Oswego County Airport is a vital gateway for Oswego County," said Legislator Louella LeClair, chairwoman of the Oswego County Legislature's Economic Development and Planning Committee. "By making the most of this significant asset, we will attract more recreational flight pilots as well as encourage more business travel to our county."

Legislator Morris Sorbello, vice chairman of the committee, agreed, "It is nice to see this space being utilized again. It's important to have a restaurant at the county airport to create activity and support its structure."

The Oswego County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) approved a $15,000 micro-enterprise loan for start-up costs such as building improvements and equipment, furnishings and fixtures.

"The economic impact of this venture is the creation of one full-time and three part-time positions and an estimated $8,900 in annual sales tax," said L. Michael Treadwell, director of Operation Oswego County. "The restaurant will provide support services for the county airport and make use of available vacant space."

The restaurant is owned by Susan Skinner and will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring new and traditional American fare. Its hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; and 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday. The restaurant will be closed on Mondays. It also offers handicap accessibility and free parking.

The Oswego County IDA works to establish and implement economic development strategies that will enhance the vitality of Oswego County's businesses, communities and citizens. The creation and retention of job opportunities and development of the local economy are two key components of this mission.

Operation Oswego County educates Oswego County residents as well as existing and prospective businesses about the economic development services and resources available to them in order to expand and diversify the local economy.

The Oswego County Legislature's Economic Development and Planning Committee oversees Operation Oswego County. In addition to legislators LeClair, District 25; and Sorbello, District 23; the committee includes Daniel Farfaglia, District 24; Daniel LeClair, District 8; Arthur Ospelt, District 12; Ronald Sakonyi, District 5; and Amy Tresidder, District 16.
