Emergency Medical Courses Begin Aug. 27 in Fulton, Pulaski

Fulton -- The Oswego County Emergency Management Office/Emergency Medical Services will offer Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) courses beginning Monday, Aug. 27, in Fulton and Pulaski.

An EMT (Basic) Original class will be held concurrently with an EMT (Basic) Refresher beginning Aug. 27 at the Constellation Energy Group Joint Information Center, 10 Airport Drive, Fulton. Classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and some Saturdays. The written challenge exam for the Refresher course will be held Monday, Aug. 27, and the skills challenge exam will be Saturday, Sept. 1. The instructor will be Dana Oliver, EMT-Paramedic/Certified Instructor Coordinator.

In addition, an EMT (Basic) Original class will be held concurrently with an EMT (Basic) Refresher beginning Aug. 27 at the Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department, 12 Lake St, Pulaski. Classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and some Saturdays. The written challenge exam for the Refresher course will be held Monday, Aug. 27, and the skills challenge exam will be Saturday, Sept. 1. The instructor will be Norm Wallis Jr., EMT-Paramedic/Certified Instructor Coordinator.

These courses present the new national EMS education standards required by New York State EMS. They are designed to cover all of the required skills New York State Emergency Medical Services requires for certification of Emergency Medical Technicians (formerly called "Basic EMT").

The New York State written exam for all classes will be Thursday, March 21, 2013.
