HHW Facility Will Close for Season Sept. 29
Oswego County residents have until the end of September to get rid of household hazardous waste products at the county's disposal facility in Volney. The facility, located at the Bristol Hill Solid Waste Landfill, 3125 NYS Route 3, will close for the season Saturday, Sept. 29.
The collection facility is open Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 to 11 a.m. Unwanted pesticides, cleansers, old pool chemicals and other outdated household chemicals are accepted.
Materials should be kept in their original containers and placed in sturdy cardboard boxes. Leaking containers should be wrapped in newspaper and placed in a clear plastic bag. Smoking is prohibited in the unloading area. When lines are long, cars may be turned away so that materials can be processed prior to the facility's closing.
