AmeriCorps Joins with Local Groups to Collect Coats and Canned Goods -

Cans, Coats, and Critters Drive Dec. 6, 7 and 8

OSWEGO - Downtown Oswego will be treated to the sound of carolers as volunteers collect donations to assist the Oswego Salvation Army and Paws Across Oswego County in their work this Christmas season.

"As the cold weather sets in, winter coats and non-perishable food items are needed more and more, as are donations of cat and dog supplies for our four-legged friends in need," said AmeriCorps member Ian Mumpton, Fort Ontario State Historic Site. "All donations will be accepted with heartfelt thanks and appreciation."

Volunteer carolers will have collection boxes at the corner of West First and Bridge streets Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6, 7 and 8, from noon until 8 p.m. The drive is organized by Ian Mumpton and Peter Sterbak, AmeriCorps members at Fort Ontario, and is made possible with assistance from Oswego County AmeriCorps, the Friends of Fort Ontario, and Fort Ontario State Historic Site.
