Probation Staff Raise Money for Local Charities
Lu Jerrett, center, Oswego County Probation Department, presents a donation to Lee Maniccia, left, president of the Oswego County Humane Society and Daniel Capella, Secretary. Members of the probation department raise money throughout the year to donate to local charities.
Several local organizations have benefited from fundraising events this year thanks to the generosity of the Oswego County Probation Department staff. The staff holds "Casual Fridays" once a month and donates funds to a different charity each quarter.
This year, Probation staff raised funds for the Child Advocacy Center, the Oswego County Humane Society, and the Salvation Army to provide Christmas gifts during the holiday season.
"I am proud of the dedication and commitment of the Probation Department staff," said Director Deborah L. Meyer. "Not only are they committed to doing the hard work of rehabilitating offenders and keeping our community safe, many give tirelessly of their time and talent to many worthy causes in Oswego County."
Department members also participated in fundraising walks and runs, and other events for the Child Advocacy Center, Strut Your Mutt, the YMCA, a local library and the Hannibal School District.
Meyer said the probation staff will continue to be a presence in the community to aid in raising funds and awareness for local causes.
