David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach is Closed

CONSTANTIA - The Oswego County Health Department announced Sunday, July 14 that the David C. Webb Memorial Park Bathing Beach on Oneida Lake in the town of Constantia has been closed to swimming due to the presence of a blue-green algae bloom. The beach will remain closed until the blooms have cleared and the health department approves its re-opening.

"Blue-green algae produces toxins that could pose a health risk to people and animals if they are exposed to them in large enough quantities," said Oswego County Public Health Director, Jiancheng Huang. "Direct conta

ct or breathing airborne droplets containing high levels during swimming can cause irritation of the skin, eyes, nose and throat and inflammation in the respiratory tract."
