Oswego County Participates in Earth Week (EMC)

The Oswego County Environmental Management Council (EMC) is proud to announce Earth Week throughout Oswego County starting April 25 and ending May 4. Earth Week is a time when individuals, schools, organizations and groups participate in a litter and debris cleanup in their community. This year, EMC is giving participants even more of an incentive to help out by giving them a chance at over a dozen of prizes donated by local businesses from across the county.

"We are very excited that so many local businesses donated gifts cards, cash and prizes for the participants of Earth Week," said Richard Drosse, Earth Week Coordinator. "This time of year is very important for our county and every little bit of help can make a difference. Planting trees, creating rain gardens, and cleaning up litter and debris are just a few ways to help out!"

Anyone can participate in Earth Week but for a chance at over a dozen prizes participants must submit a photo of their cleanup. To enter, participants must complete the participation form located on the EMC Web site and attach their photo at www.oswegocounty.com/earthweek.html. Along with completing the participation form, participants are encouraged to share their photo on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook using the hash tag, "#OswegoCountyEarthWeek". The prize drawing will be held the week after Earth Week to allow participants time to send or share their photos.

So far the prize donations from across the county include B&T Sports & Trophy, Blue Moon Grill, Burke's Home Center, Byrne Dairy, Cam's Pizzeria, Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club, Murdock's Bike Shop, Oswego County Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs, Price Chopper, RFH's Hide-A-Way, river's end bookstore, Stewarts, Tavern on the Lock Restaurant and Wal-Mart.

The EMC will also provide trash bags and safety vests during Earth Week for those who need them. Limited supplies of work gloves are also available through a donation from Novelis.

For more information on Earth Week including cleanup suggestions and supplies, how to enter the drawing and a variety of environmental information go to www.oswegocounty.com/earthweek.html or call 343-4565.

Earth Week runs from April 25 to May 5. Share your photo for a chance at over a dozen prizes donated by local Oswego County businesses. #OswegoCountyEarthWeek
