Oswego County AmeriCorps is currently accepting applications for a variety of summer positions. AmeriCorps is a national service program. Locally, Oswego County AmeriCorps members provide fitness and nutrition activities for youth as well as manage volunteers who work with youth.
"Members learn valuable skills while receiving a living allowance and earning an education award," said Kathy Andolina, Oswego County AmeriCorps program coordinator. "Many college students have found the summer AmeriCorps program provides them with experience related to their college studies, while helping to pay for their education."
Oswego County AmeriCorps is currently accepting applications for 300-hour summer positions. Applicants must be 17 years of age. There is no upper age limit. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED or be in the process of receiving one, and should have some experience working with youth.
For a 300-hour summer AmeriCorps position, members receive a living allowance of $2,113. They also receive an education award of $1,175 at the end of their term of service. This can be used for tuition or student loans at qualified institutions.
Applications should be submitted as soon as possible. Interviews will be scheduled until all positions are filled.
