Camp Hollis Hosts Family Hollis Harvest Day Oct. 18

OSWEGO - All Oswego County youth and family members are invited to celebrate the autumn season this Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau’s “Hollis Harvest.”

This free event will feature games and outdoor activities from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., including fall-themed games, trick-or-treating from cabin to cabin, arts and crafts, trail walks, and the entertainment of Wade Live, co-sponsored by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau and the Oswego Kiwanis Club.

“Wade Live combines comedy and magic with hilarious and mind-blowing results,” said Brandon Morey, Parks and Recreation Coordinator for the Youth Bureau. “He truly engages audiences with his high energy performance and offers lots of opportunities for his audience to participate.”

Many of the activities at Hollis Harvest will be held outside, and participants should dress accordingly. There will be an indoor space for craft projects and where visitors can purchase food and refreshments. Youth ages 12 and under must have an adult attending the event with them.

AmeriCorps Member Violet Holbrook will assist with the Hollis Harvest festival. She is collecting winter hats, gloves, mittens and boots for children to be donated to the clients of the Human Concerns Center on East Fourth Street, Oswego. There is no fee to attend the event and registration is not required; however, any donation to Violet's project is greatly appreciated.

Camp Hollis is owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau as a residential camp during the summer months for children ages 8 to 14 years old. The facility is available April through October for use by families, clubs, school groups and other organizations. Events like “Hollis Harvest” are held to give Oswego County residents opportunities to enjoy Camp Hollis year round.

Camp Hollis is located at 40 Health Camp Road, off Lakeshore Road in the town of Oswego. Those seeking more information may call the Youth Bureau at 315-349-3451 or 1-800-596-3200, ext.3451 or contact Brandon Morey at 315-349-324, email bmorey@oswegocounty.com
