Since 2007, the Oswego County Department of Solid Waste, and St. Pauly Textile have worked together to recycle unwanted clothing and textile items. As a result, items are collected in St. Pauly collection sheds at all five Oswego County transfer stations and recycling drop-off facilities. Collection sheds are located at the Bristol Hill, Hannibal, Hastings, Oswego, and Pulaski transfer stations.
St. Paulys accepts clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, blankets, sheets, pillowcases, drapes and stuffed toys. Donated items should be clean, dry, and in wearable condition. Donations will notbe cut up or shredded. Unwanted items are rags, fabric scraps, pillows, toys or household goods.Wet or soiled clothes are considered trash and are not accepted. The reusable items should be put in plastic bags before placing them in a collection shed.
"St. Pauly Textile is a locally-owned company with a mission to distributeuseable clothing to people who can use it here in the United States and in Third World countries," said Frank Visser, Director of Solid Waste.
