OSWEGO - Oswego County Clerk Michael C. Backus encourages local residents to use one of the three local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices for their motor vehicle transactions.
This includes registration renewals, such as those for motorcycles which expire every year on April 30. "When people mail their DMV renewals to a local office, Oswego County retains a portion of the fees and that goes directly toward off-setting local property taxes," Backus said.
Residents can renew their registration in person at DMVs in Fulton, Oswego and Pulaski. Offices are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Vehicle renewals can also be mailed in to the following addresses:
It's also important for residents to know that if they mail their registration renewal to a local office, they must cover or cross out the postal bar code that is pre-printed on the DMV envelope.
Backus explained, "The envelopes sent by the state DMV direct those renewals to Utica for processing. If you want your money to remain in Oswego County, shop local at one of our DMVs by either bringing in your registration or mailing it directly to us by covering or crossing out that postal bar code and writing in your local DMV address."
For more information, call the Fulton DMV at 591-9136; the Oswego DMV at 349-8300; or the Pulaski DMV at 298-6521.
