The Oswego County Health Department is observing National Groundwater Awareness Week March 8 to March 14.
“Groundwater is essential to the health and well-being of the public and the environment,” said Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang. “Whether you are on a public water system or a private well, groundwater is important to you.”
Huang said there are several resources available for residents who want to learn more about testing, treating, and protecting their private well or drilling a new well. Online resources include these websites: www.ngwa.org; www.nywelldriller; and www.wellowner.com.
The Environmental Division of the Health Department offers several programs for individual homeowners who wish to have their well water tested. They include:
