ALTMAR - Oswego Expeditions will offer free shuttle service from Oswego to the Oswego County Tourism Ambassador training program in Altmar Monday, May 4. The training begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Tailwater Lodge and concludes at the Kallet Theater in Pulaski. Shuttle passengers will arrive back in Oswego at approximately 5 p.m.
Oswego Expeditions is a new business that offers a new and unique service to visitors and residents alike. Founded by Jennifer Mays, the firm provides guided hiking throughout Oswego County and the Adirondack Mountains, customized guided expeditions to all of Oswego's local museums, and kayak tours and rentals."Our mission is to enhance the overall health and well-being of participants by merging health with history and nature. We're more than happy to make our 20-passenger shuttle available to people in the Oswego area who would like to attend the tourism ambassador workshop in Altmar," said Mays.

The tourism ambassador program is designed to increase the hospitality knowledge of business owners, front-line staff, volunteers and community leaders in Oswego County. The workshop includes a short series of regional presentations focusing on natural, cultural and heritage resources followed by lunch and guided tours of the Tailwater Lodge. Presenters include Christopher Jones, Mary Shadduck, Mercedes Niess, Abe Ellis, Janet Clerkin, Kara Alheim, and Dave Turner. After lunch and tours, keynote speaker Lynn "Spike" Herzig of the Herzig Group will give a presentation on hospitality training and the visitor experience.Workshop sponsors include theTailwater Lodge, Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning, Cre8 Studios, H. Lee White Maritime Museum, Oswego Expeditions, and the Herzig Group. A free lunch will be sponsored by the Tailwater Lodge and the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. Space is limited and reservations are required.
Businesses are encouraged to bring brochures to share their information at a brochure exchange station at the Tailwater. The seminar will conclude with a networking Q and A session and cash bar from 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. at the Kallet Theater, a short drive away in Pulaski.
