OSWEGO - The Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium returns to the Port City Friday, April 1 through Sunday, April 3, 2016 with an added focus. "Next year, we are also commemorating the Oswego County Bicentennial," said Fort Ontario State Historic Site Superintendent Paul Lear, chairman of the Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium Committee. "Several local speakers will be included in the stellar panel of presenters. They will talk about a variety of topics related to the history of the county and its origins."
The event planning committee is now asking for papers from community members. Presentation proposals may include commerce and trade; agriculture; transportation and ship-building; civic leaders, family lineage and genealogy; the arts; and daily life.
Presentations should be approximately 40 minutes in length, or 5,000 to 6,000 word papers. Speakers will receive an honorarium and have their papers published in a commemorative volume. The deadline for submissions is Monday, January 4, 2016.
