OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH

OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH - Oswego County recently designated October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month to raise awareness about the devastating impact of this issue as well as the variety of services available to its victims and survivors. Domestic violence shows no regard for socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, religion, employment status, physical abilities, age, education, marital status or sexual orientation. Community members are encouraged to "Go Purple" this month and wear the purple ribbon which symbolizes courage, honor, survival and dedication to ending domestic violence. Representatives from Oswego County Opportunities' (OCO) Services to Aid Families (SAF), which assists and empowers victims of domestic violence, were at hand for the presentation.
