LEGISLATURE CHAIRMAN PRESENTS STATE OF THE COUNTY
LEGISLATURE CHAIRMAN PRESENTS STATE OF THE COUNTY - Oswego County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner (District 13, town of New Haven and a portion of the town of Scriba) presented his state of the county address to the full Legislature during its March meeting. After welcoming the new first-term legislators, he announced that the county tax rate has been reduced by 20 percent since 2004 and discussed efforts to protect local services essential to maintaining residents' quality of life. Chairman Gardner also provided updates on many initiatives such as the Community Health and Poverty Reduction Taskforce and the establishment of a land bank, while hailing the efforts being made to receive national designations for Fort Ontario State Historic Site as well as a portion of Lake Ontario, creating a four-county National Marine Sanctuary.
