Shop Local at an Oswego County DMV and Cut Property Taxes

OSWEGO - Oswego County Clerk Michael C. Backus encourages residents to use one of the three local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices for their motor vehicle transactions.

This includes registration renewals such as those for motorcycles which expire every year on April 30.

"When people mail or bring in their DMV renewals to a local office, Oswego County retains a portion of those fees and that goes directly toward offsetting local property taxes," Backus said.

Residents can renew their registration in person at DMVs in Fulton, Oswego and Pulaski. Offices are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Vehicle renewals can also be mailed in to the following addresses:

  • Fulton Motor Vehicles Office at 200 N. Second St., Fulton, NY 13069.

  • Oswego Motor Vehicles Office at 384 E. River Rd., Oswego, NY 13126.

  • Pulaski Motor Vehicles Office at 2 Broad St., Pulaski, NY 13142.

  • It is important for people to remember to sign the back of their registration renewal form before mailing it in as well as covering or crossing out the postal bar code that is pre-printed on the DMV envelope they are enclosing it in.

"People often think of the registration form as a bill that they don't have to sign, but we do need their signature in order to process the registration," Backus explained. "Also, the bar code on the envelopes sent by the state DMV direct those renewals to Utica for processing. Keep your money in Oswego County by shopping local at one of our DMV offices. You can either bring your registration in person or mail it directly to us by covering that postal bar code and write in your local DMV address."

For more information, call the Fulton DMV at 591-9136; the Oswego DMV at 349-8300; or the Pulaski DMV at 298-6521.
