COUNTY RECOGNIZES OCO - The Oswego County Legislature recognized Oswego County Opportunities for its dedication and commitment to county residents as the agency marks its 50th anniversary. The organization began in 1966 as the Community Action Agency, a product of President Lyndon Johnson's War on Poverty campaign. Today, nearly 600 staff members and more than 1,000 volunteers work together to provide programs and services to 21,000 people every year. The agency works with businesses, civic and non-profit groups, government, and community residents to support individuals and families as they overcome poverty's social, physical, mental, educational and economic barriers to become successful productive members of our communities.
