High School Students are Encouraged to Apply for Youth Leadership Program

Leadership Oswego County Youth (LOCY) is accepting applications for its 18th year of youth leadership training experience. The program is open to all high school students in Oswego County. Preference is given to those entering their freshman or sophomore year who have shown leadership potential and a desire to learn.

The training will take place during the 2016-2017 school year and requires permission from the student's school to be excused from classes one day a month.

The deadline to apply is Friday, July 1.

"Leadership Oswego County Youth teaches young people skills that will enable them to make a difference in their school and community," said Brian Chetney, Executive Director of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau. "The program provides an opportunity for youth to learn about future leadership opportunities such as serving on the Youth Advisory Council and other advisory boards, becoming an officer in a school club, being a team leader in sports and becoming involved in community volunteer groups."

Interested students should contact the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau office at 315-349-3451 or 1-800-596-3200, ext. 3451 or e-mail bmorey@oswegocounty.com for an application.

LOCY is sponsored by Leadership Oswego County, SUNY Oswego and the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
