Celebrate Independence Day and Oswego County Bicentennial This Weekend!


OSWEGO COUNTY Oswego County has something for everyone to enjoy as they celebrate the nation's Independence Day and the county' bicentennial. Bring the whole family out to join the fun on Saturday and Sunday!

  • Saturday, July 2 from 12 to 3 p.m.: Oswego Stamp Club ceremony and reception inside Fort Ontario State Historic Site on East Fourth Street. Small charge for commemoration cachets. Contact: jamesmcadam334@gmail.com.

  • Saturday and Sunday, July 2 and 3 from 12 to 5 p.m.: Oswego Railroad Museum on West First Street presents American Freedom Train exhibit. Small charge for admission. Contact: 806-2193.

  • Sunday, July 3 at 10 a.m.: Revolutionary War veteran Elias Cady Dedication at the Merritt Cemetery on Merritt Road in Granby. Contact: 598-6500.

  • Sunday, July 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Fort Brewerton/Greater Oneida Lake Chamber of Commerce hosts a craft and vendor show at the Brewerton Fire Department on U.S. Route 11. Contact: 668-3408.

  • Sunday, July 3 from 12 to 4 p.m.: Fort Brewerton/Greater Oneida Lake Chamber of Commerce hosts a kid's zone at Fort Brewerton on U.S. Route 11. Contact: 668-3408.

  • Sunday, July 3 from 1 to 3 p.m.: Oswego's Independence Day Parade. Begins at Oswego High School and runs along Bridge Street to East Seventh Street ending at Fort Ontario State Historic Site. Contact: 806-0251.

  • Sunday, July 3 from 3 to 7 p.m.: Oswego County Bicentennial Community Picnic at Fort Ontario State Historic Site on East Fourth Street. History displays, family activities, speakers, live music and food. Contact: 343-4711.

  • Sunday, July 3 at 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m.: Jeff the Magic Man performs at Oswego County Bicentennial Community Picnic at Fort Ontario State Historic Site on East Fourth Street.

  • Sunday, July 3 at parade's end: The Island Band performs at Oswego County Bicentennial Community Picnic at Fort Ontario State Historic Site on East Fourth Street.

  • Sunday, July 3 at 5 p.m.: Representatives speak at Oswego County Bicentennial Community Picnic at Fort Ontario State Historic Site on East Fourth Street. Includes Oswego County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner and others. Oswego County Legislator and Bicentennial Committee Chairman Shawn Doyle will emcee. Contact: 349-8322.

  • Sunday, July 3 at 5 p.m.: Children in grades three and above meet at the Gypsy Truck at Fort Ontario State Historic Site on East Fourth Street to pick up costumes and directions to participate in children's play. Contact: 312-0111.

  • Sunday, June 3 at 5:30 p.m.: Breitbeck Park opens with food, vendors, and live performances from Oswego Jazz Band, the Buffalo Bills drumline Downbeat Percussion, and Joe Driscoll. Contact: 806-0251.
