OSWEGO COUNTY - Oswego County continues to mark its 200th anniversary this year with a series of heritage bus tours throughout the county. Sign up with Oswego Expeditions for the third tour celebrating the county's bicentennial. Enjoy an 'education through exploration' experience and learn more about the history in your own back yard!
Oswego Expeditions, in cooperation with Oswego County Tourism, provided a customized tour every month throughout the summer and will continue the series through November. All trips begin at 10 a.m. and return by 4 p.m.
The next tour travels through the Sandy Creek, Richland, Altmar and Orwell areas on Saturday, Sept. 17. The itinerary begins at the Crank It Up! Antique Tractor and Engine Show at the Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek. Participants will also visit the Salmon River International Sportfishing Museum, the impressive 110-foot waterfall at the Salmon River Falls Unique Area, and the Half-Shire Historical Society.
Admission for each trip is $45 for adults and $35 for seniors and students. The tour includes transportation accompanied by an experienced history guide, entry fees, drinks and lunch.
On Saturday, Oct. 15, a trip along the north shore of Oneida Lake will include stops at the West Monroe Historical Society, the Cleveland Historical Society, and the Fort Brewerton Historical Society and Oliver Stevens Block House Museum. The final tour of the bicentennial bus series will focus on the city of Oswego.

VISITING THE GREAT SOUTHWEST - Oswego Expeditions took visitors through Oswego Town, Hannibal, Fulton and Phoenix in July to explore their histories. Participants visited the John Wells Pratt House Museum in Fulton; the Bridge House Museum and Schroeppel Historical Society in Phoenix; and enjoyed lunch from The Cutting Board as they relaxed in Henley Park overlooking the scenic Oswego River Canal in Phoenix.
