OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH - Oswego County designated October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month to raise awareness about the devastating impact of this issue on countless individuals, as well as their children, families and communities. Domestic violence shows no regard for age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or economic status. It takes the form of physical battery, sexual assault or emotional or psychological abuse and escalates over time. Oswego County Opportunities' (OCO) Services to Aid Families (SAF) served nearly 600 victims and survivors last year; providing aid and advocating for their safety, health and well-being. Pictured from left are Human Services Committee Vice Chairman Shane Broadwell, District 17; Lisa Evaneski, SUNY Oswego Title IX Coordinator; Jennifer Torrese, ARISE Manager of Community Services; Jake West, SAF Advocate; Thomas Drumm, District 16; Committee Chairman Daniel LeClair, District 8; Sara Gozzi, SAF Advocate; Dan Kelley, director of OCO Crisis and Development Services; Jackie Guglielmo, SAF Program Manager; Kelsey Gillett, SAF Advocate; Sabine Ingerson, director of Oswego County ARISE; Shawn Doyle, District 3; Heather DelConte, District 18; Sara Sunday, director of the Oswego County Office for the Aging; John Proud, District 7; and Tim Stahl, District 20. If you or someone you know is a victim or survivor of domestic violence, call OCO's SAF Crisis Hotline at (315) 342-1600. For more information, visit www.oco.org.
