OSWEGO - The Fajita Grill will conduct a fundraiser to benefit Friends of Fort Ontario Tuesday, Jan. 24. The restaurant will donate 10 percent of sales, both eat-in and take-out, between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to Friends of Fort Ontario.
Money raised during the Fajita Grill fundraiser will be used for programming, special events, and restoration projects at Fort Ontario State Historic Site in Oswego.
Fort Ontario was the site of two battles during the French and Indian War, the objective of the last Continental Army campaign of the Revolutionary War, two battles during the War of 1812, a Civil War recruiting and training facility, a U.S. Army General Hospital in World War I, and the site of the only refugee camp for victims of the Nazi Holocaust in the United States during World War II. Today, the 444th Engineer Company, 479th Engineer Battalion, US Army Reserve, veterans of deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, carries on a 262-year history of military occupation of the Fort Ontario Military Reservation National Register District.
