Looking for the largest trees in Oswego County

Become part of the Big Tree Search, a program coordinated by the Oswego County Environmental Management Council and Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District and funded by Constellation Energy.

Participating in the Big Tree Search is a fun activity and a great way to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. This competition is intended to spread awareness and appreciation of trees in our lives and our environment.

The tree that you find and enter in the competition may be a champion. A "Champion Tree" certificate will be awarded for the largest tree in each species. The nominators of the top twelve champion trees (one champion per species) will also receive a tree identification guide in addition to the certificate.

Joining the search for the largest trees in the County is simple. Begin by looking around your neighborhood, local parks or other areas within Oswego County for large trees which are both alive and standing. Click here to view a list of trails in Oswego County.

Once you have located a tree you would like to enter in the competition, try identifying the species.
