Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels)
The Oswego County Office for the Aging is able to provide home delivered meals (HDM) to Oswego County residents aged 60 and over, their spouse or care giver, and persons the elderly client is responsible for providing care to on an on-going basis. Persons qualifying for this program exhibit difficulties shopping for and preparing nutritious food.

Chilled lunches are delivered Monday – Friday at lunch time, along with sandwich fixings for dinner meals. Participants must be home to receive meals. Chilled meals can be heated in a microwave or conventional oven. Meals are prepared and delivered by Oswego County Opportunities (OCO).

Meals are meant for those with or without diabetes. The meals have no added salt during preparation, however, some menu items may contain salt. The menus are prepared by the program’s dietician and are distributed monthly.

Home delivered meals is a contribution only program. The suggested contribution is $4/day for two meals. For those who self disclose their income to be at or greater than 185% of the Federal Poverty Level, a contribution of the full cost of the meal ($7.65) is suggested. Each person makes the decision as to how much they can contribute. Contributions are voluntary and confidential. No one is denied a meal due to inability or unwillingness to contribute. A monthly summary sheet is provided to each participant along with a pre-addressed envelope to mail contribution.
