Probation officers conduct pre-plea and pre-dispositional investigations as ordered by Family Court. Probation officers interview the various parties including, juvenile, parent(s)/guardian(s), school, agencies etc., and compile information. They also complete a risk assessment tool (YASI) and, based on the assessment results and collateral information, recommend an appropriate disposition to the court, noting any services that the juvenile needs.
