Responsibilities and services: The Assigned Counsel Program provides attorneys at taxpayer expense to financially eligible persons in qualifying criminal and family court cases
*PLEASE NOTE*: The Assigned Counsel Program does NOT make assignments to financially eligible persons. The Court is responsible for determining who qualifies for an assigned attorney, and then assigns an attorney for those deemed eligible.
Complaints: Should you have a complaint regarding an attorney who has been assigned to represent you, please contact the New York State Appellate Division: Fourth Judicial Department. This office does not handle complaints.
