About Us

Drug Treatment Court is a division of Oswego County Criminal Court.*

It’s a voluntary program for people who have been charged with nonviolent crimes who have a drug problem. Participants must attend a court-approved drug treatment program, appear before the drug treatment court judge on a regular basis, follow the instructions of the court and treatment provider, and undergo regular drug testing.

Drug treatment court benefits the entire community.

Drug treatment court results in:
  • reduced recidivism (repeat offender) rates among program participants and graduates.
  • reduced expense to taxpayers. It costs less to treat a person for substance abuse than it costs to keep someone in jail.
  • reduced drug use among program participants and graduates leads to increased public safety and a better quality of life in our community.
  • more jail space is available for violent criminals.

*The Oswego County Drug Treatment Court is made possible by a federal grant through the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Drug Courts Program Office. Additional support is provided by the New York State Unified Court System.
