Free Art for Kids at the Pulaski Farmers’ Market

June 6, 2023

The Salmon River Fine Arts Center joins the Pulaski Farmers’ Market by offering free art projects for kids all summer. The farmers’ market is open from 4 to 7 p.m. on Fridays in the South Park on N. Jefferson St. in Pulaski. Starting Friday, June 16, families can stop by the Center’s table in the park where an art instructor and volunteers will guide children of all ages in a fun new creation!

“This will be our third year participating in the Pulaski Farmers’ Market and I have been amazed at the positive reception from folks who stop by our tables,” said Pulaski Farmers’ Market Coordinator Anna Blachman. “Our artists and volunteers are kept busy helping kids of all ages – from toddlers to octogenarians – make beautiful art. It really exemplifies our mission to help educate and encourage everyone to enjoy art.”

Each week there will be a different art project, such as creating mixed media projects, making leather wristbands, rock painting, pressing mold clay pots and much more. The farmers’ market also features live music each week, as well as fresh produce, artisan foods and local vendors. It’s a fun free event perfect for the whole family.

The art center also has Young Artist Experience (YAE) summer art camps, covered in part by the Pulaski Community Fund. This program offers a variety of four-day per week themed art camps for elementary, middle and high school youth. Costs for the camps are only $5 to $20 per student in a “pay what you wish” mode, and free scholarships are also available for those struggling financially. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Go to https://salmonriverfineartscenter.square.site/ to sign up.

There are also a variety of adult classes available – many of which are open to teens too. They include pottery, glass-on-glass and mosaic, watercolor and acrylic painting, drawing and much more. A complete schedule of classes, including the farmers’ market activities is posted on the Center’s website at https://salmonriverfineartscenter.com/.
