March 22, 2024

Are you interested in a career as a CDL-A or -B driver? This spring, Oswego County Workforce New York (OCWNY) and CiTi BOCES offer free training for people to get their CDL license and help connect them with the many employers who have an immediate need to hire for these positions.

Get more information at one of these free sessions at CiTi BOCES, 179 County Rte. 64, Mexico:

  • Wednesday, April 3, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, April 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“We are committed to helping individuals pursue a rewarding career change from the very beginning,” said Oswego County Workforce New York Employment Specialist Andre Nichols, who is overseeing the project. “If you feel like you couldn’t get your CDL license for one reason or another, or just don’t know where to start now, these information sessions are an excellent opportunity to connect with CDL training instructors and potential employers.”

Candidates will have an opportunity to interview with employers before the start of training on Tuesday, May 21.

CDL training is provided by CiTi BOCES in collaboration with employers and the costs are covered by OCWNY for qualifying candidates. Together, they provide assistance and support throughout the entire process.

“We believe in offering training and support to help job seekers advance their careers and assist employers hiring local talent,” said Oswego County Department of Workforce Development Director Rachel Pierce.
