Underwater Rescue and Recovery Team

Committed to assisting those trapped on or below the water’s surface. Formed in 2012, the team has an active membership of about 30 personnel in the roles of diver and surface support. The team is always seeking new divers who possess an open water certification and equipment (basic dive training and core diving gear not provided by Oswego County), as well as personnel with minimum of BEFO, or the equivalent for surface support personnel (training provided on the job).

Ongoing training is provided to get divers to the public safety diver level, and surface support personnel assisted to obtain line tender certification.

Membership requires authorization from the member's home department, as well as an appropriate department physical. Drills are usually the first Sunday of the month and additional dives are held as scheduled. Open water dives are held during the better weather, including shore and boat-based dives.
