Adoption home studies are assigned either by the surrogate court or the family court. A home study requires the worker to meet with the family going through the adoption process to obtain a full family background and to fill out required paperwork. A home visit is also conducted to ensure the residence is appropriate. Upon completion, a report is submitted to the court.
