Notaries Public

As the Chief Notary of Oswego County, the clerk's office provides use of a notary to the general public. Notary renewals throughout the county are recorded and all notary's signatures are recorded for verification.  

Notary Renewals 
You should receive your notary renewal from us in the mail about two and half months prior to when your notary commission is due to expire. You can either bring your notary renewal into our office or mail it in. Notary renewals can be paid for by cash, check, or credit card for a slight additional fee. 

*If you have moved outside of Oswego County you will need to renew in your new county of residence. 

Notary renewals are sent into the New York Department of State for processing in the first week of the month following the month you renewed (Ex: renew in June, sent for processing in July). It typically takes about 8-10 weeks for you to receive your new card from the Department of State.  Once you are on file with the County Clerk's office, you can use your new expiration date.
