Oswego County Sheriff's Office Announces Boater Safety Course
Oswego County Sheriff Donald R. Hilton announced that a boating safety course will be held on Sunday, April 23 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Haven Town Hall, 4279 NYS Rte. 104, New Haven.
There is no charge for the training. A parent or guardian must accompany youths aged 10 through 17 years to the classroom on the day of the course to sign a parental permission form.
New York State Law requires boaters to hold a safety certificate if:
- They wish to operate a personal watercraft and are at least 14 years of age.
- They wish to operate a motorboat and were born on or after January 1, 1983. (Please note that students must be at least 10 years of age to take the course.)
Pre-registration is required and class size will be strictly limited due to available space. Those interested can register by calling Jessica Lighthall at 315-349-3372, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
