Oswego County Receives Tourism Excellence Award

Oswego County welcomed the 2023 New York State Tourism Industry Association (NYSTIA) Conference April 18-21 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego. Tourism professionals from across the state came to the Port City to enjoy tours, talks and learn about all that Oswego County has to offer.

During the conference, the Oswego County Tourism Office received its 2022 New York State Tourism Excellence Award. The team won the award for Excellence in Tourism Marketing Campaigns, Project & Programs Award in the printed materials category for its Oswego County Fishing & Hunting Guide.

“We’re thrilled to receive this honor,” said David Turner, director of the Oswego County Offices of Strategic Initiatives and Community Development, Tourism and Planning. “To have other tourism industry professionals select our guide for an award speaks volumes to the quality of work and exceptional effort our team puts into promoting Oswego County.”

The guide highlights fishing and hunting in Oswego County with listings of marinas, charter boat and guide services, maps and other details to help visitors and residents alike fully enjoy this sportsmen’s paradise.

NYSTIA’s annual award program recognizes destination marketing organizations, attractions and other tourism-related businesses across the state for their work in various forms of marketing, destination management and stewardship.

In particular, the 2022 awards highlighted the efforts that contributed to the recovery and resurgence of New York State’s tourism industry and the communities it serves.

The New York State Tourism Excellence Awards are judged by an impartial panel of industry experts supported by NYSTIA. A broad range of diverse, high-quality nominations are submitted each year, highlighting the esteem these awards hold.

The New York State Tourism Industry Association supports its members in promoting economic growth, job creation, community revitalization, quality of life and pride of place through the state’s tourism industry.
