Lend a Hand at the Oswego County Fairgrounds; General Meeting June 5

May 12, 2023

The Oswego County Fair Board is looking for volunteers to help with various projects and events at the fairgrounds in Sandy Creek. Interested people are invited to come to its next general meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 5 in the entertainment building on the grounds.

“We’re looking for volunteers from all walks of life to help with all manner of tasks,” said Oswego County Fair Board President Harold Smith. “Of course, we need help running events on the fairgrounds, as so many other event organizers do. However, we’re also looking for help on the property itself – from mowing the lawn to cleaning the buildings and various tasks in between. If you have special skills in any of the trades, that would be a plus as well.”

The Board welcomes individual and group volunteers to pitch in. This includes students looking to fulfil their community service requirement for school, church or social organizations and families who want to get more involved in making their community a better place.

There are currently two events planned at the fairgrounds this year, the “Small Town Country Fair” from Friday, June 30 to Sunday, July 2 and the “Family Fall Festival” from Friday, Sept. 29 to Sunday, Oct. 1.

Other groups and organizations are welcome to rent space at the fairgrounds for their own events. Whether it’s a school or family reunion, a wedding, or a business or organization meeting, there is plenty of room at the fairgrounds. Buildings are available to rent starting at just $250 for the day.
