Fort Ontario Welcomes Symphoria! July 7

Enjoy the beautiful sound of Symphoria! against the scenic backdrop of Great Lake Ontario. The free concert begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 7 at Fort Ontario State Historic Site, 1 E. Fourth St., Oswego.

The old stone fortification acts as a natural satellite dish, providing astounding acoustics to dazzle audiences. The concert is sponsored by the Richard S. Shineman Foundation.

Seating will not be provided, and audience members are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets. The fort provides ample room on the parade grounds and ramparts for people to enjoy the concert and a Lake Ontario sunset.

Cold drinks and refreshments will be available for sale, and parking is free and plentiful. For the sake of everyone’s enjoyment of the concert, attendees are asked to please leave their dogs and other pets at home. 

Symphoria! is composed of a diverse group of talented musicians drawn from around the world, bringing with them a breadth of incredible musical talent. A 501(C)(3) not-for-profit formed in 2012, the musician-led co-operative orchestra is one of only two in the United States. Each year, it presents more than 50 concerts and reaches 100,000 people in venues ranging from libraries and health care facilities to public parks, churches, museums and its home venue, the Crouse-Hinds Theatre at the Civic Center.
