Kids Day Spring Carnival Kicks Off National Public Health Week

The Oswego County Health Department and the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau host a Kids Day Spring Carnival on Monday, April 1 to launch National Public Health Week. The event runs from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Nick Stereo Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.

National Public Health Week recognizes and celebrates the hard work and dedication that goes into maintaining and promoting public health. This year’s theme is “Protecting, Connecting and Thriving: We are all Public Health.”

The event offers free carnival games and a reptile petting zoo from G & G Animals. Other activities include an indoor obstacle course, sensory activity tables from Little Luke’s and Pemberton Associates, STEM activities with Novelis, Adaptive Design with Arise, Inc., a presentation of the Pillowcase Project with the American Red Cross, a dental health presentation from Fulton Dental Health Solutions and more.

During the Kids Day Spring Carnival, food will be available to purchase from Ippoliti Street Food and Shannon’s Hot Dogs by Crystal.

National Public Health Week continues throughout the week with various events, each focused on a different aspect of public health:

  • Tuesday, April 2, 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.: Animal Health Day at the Nick Stereo Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.
  • Wednesday, April 3, 4 to 7 p.m.: “Start the Conversation: Mental Health Art Show” at Catholic Charities of Oswego County, 808 W. Broadway, Fulton.
  • Thursday, April 4, 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.: Preventative Health Fair at the Nick Stereo Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.
