Get Your Child’s Car Seat Checked on March 23

March 15, 2024

The Oswego County Traffic Safety Board offers a free car seat inspection on Saturday, March 23 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department, 640 Co. Rte. 20, Oswego.

“We encourage residents to stop by this free event to make sure that their child’s car seat is properly secured and that they’re using the correct seat for the child’s age, weight and height,” said Oswego County Traffic Safety Board Coordinator Katelynn Kron. “Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to ensure car seats are installed properly and answer any questions about car seat safety.”

Appointments are not required for a car seat safety check, which usually takes between 30 and 45 minutes.

New York State law requires all children to be placed in an appropriate child restraint system while riding in a motor vehicle until they reach their 8th birthday. Children under the age of 2 must ride in a rear-facing car seat.

This car seat event is held by the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board through a grant from the New York State Governors Traffic Safety Committee.

If you have any questions about the car seat event, contact Katelynn Kron at 315-343-2344 ext. 122 or email at oswgtsb@icpoc.org.
