Celebrate Public Health Week with Family Events April 1 to 4

The Oswego County Health Department hosts a series of fun and educational events during National Public Health Week from Monday, April 1 to Thursday, April 4. The recognition celebrates the hard work and dedication that goes into maintaining and elevating public health.

The health department joins forces with various community organizations to offer four unique events open to all residents. Come out and enjoy the festivities while learning about public health programs and services. Unless otherwise noted, events take place at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego.

The week’s events include:

  • Kids Day Spring Carnival: Monday, April 1 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Animal Health Day: Tuesday, April 2 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.
  • “Start the Conversation: Mental Health Art Show”: Wednesday, April 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Catholic Charities of Oswego County, 808 W. Broadway, Fulton.
  • Preventative Health Fair: Thursday, April 4 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Lunch or snacks will be available to purchase between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. during Monday, Tuesday and Thursday events from the food trucks on site that day. Refreshments will be provided during the art show on Wednesday evening.

Pet owners please note that, although Tuesday’s event is focused on animal health, attendees are asked to leave their pets at home that day.

Pre-registration is required for both mammogram and blood donation appointments during Thursday’s event.
