Oswego County OFA Hosts Parkinson’s Disease Information Session April 9

The Oswego County Office for the Aging (OFA) marks April as Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month by partnering with Empower Parkinson to host an introductory educational presentation about the disease. Open to the public, the free event begins at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at Bishop’s Commons at St. Luke, 4 Burkle St., Oswego.

The presentation includes a general overview of Parkinson’s disease, including the development of motor and non-motor symptoms and treatment options. There will be no focus on specific treatments and medical advice will not be offered.

Guest speaker Dr. Shannon Blume will provide education on the disease. Dr. Blume is a senior medical science liaison with AbbVie Neuroscience and has 14 years of experience in clinical and basic science research, with a focus on various neurological disease states.
